Санкт-Петербург
In the new 2018 year, the gallery will open with an exhibition of paintings and graphic works by the oldest Ural artist with the unique and powerful gift of a draftsman, a master of printed graphics, a book illustrator, painter, colorist and monumental painter Veniamin Ivanovich Zakharov-Kholmsky (1930-2011). A graduate of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. I.E. Repina (1962), member of the Union of Artists of Russia (since 1971), an active participant in All-Union and international exhibitions, Veniamin Ivanovich lived and worked in the city of metallurgists - Magnitogorsk for more than 30 years, and he created more than 700 works in different genres and technicians.
He was an artist constantly evolving, stubbornly seeking his own path in art. The desire to comply with time, the modern rhythm of life led him to bold experiments in the field of visual language. As a result of endless creative searches, he managed to create his own autonomous plastic and color universe. The master’s complex and ambiguous art world was based on the principles of research and innovation (once, for his passion for modernism, he was removed from the defense of his diploma work at the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, and then his work was awarded the rating “satisfactory”). The province in art always adheres to traditions and is wary of any innovations. Despite this, the artist had and has genuine admirers of his talent, including among Magnitogorsk collectors.
His work is closely connected with the classical traditions of the past, with the aesthetics of postmodernism, the basis of which is fluency and appeal to a variety of styles and artistic movements.
In St. Petersburg, the works of the master are exhibited for the first time.
The exhibition will feature a monograph-album about the work of V. Zakharov-Kholmsky.
