The Russian Academy of Arts presents an exhibition of works by three like-minded artists, united by the tradition of Russian plein airism and anxiety about the “leaving nature”. The exhibition presents works by Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Revel Fedorov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexander Fedorov and Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Vladimir Kozhevnikov, created under the impression of traveling through ancient Russian cities or directly in the open air.
Commitment to the values of national culture and work from nature firmly connected this informal union of three painters of different generations. For more than 10 years they have been making joint trips to historical places, to the far corners of the Volga region and Central Russia, painting landscapes of ancient cities and their environs.
Revel Fedorovich Fedorov is a muralist, painter and graphic artist, sensitive to the challenges of our time, at the turn of the 20th-21st centuries he appeared as an artist-citizen and thinker. The exhibition in the halls of the Academy on Prechistenka reflects one of the innermost themes of the artist’s work: in discreet motifs of a quiet Russian province, unhurried rhythms, quiet life of objects, he is able to see the vast world, the whole Universe, conveying the idea through the harmony of color and reflecting on the enduring values of life. The master subtly feels the natural color and honors the work in the open air as the greatest mystery, therefore his works are imbued with a sense of the symphonic unity of man and nature, enjoying the beauty of the surrounding world.
One of the features of the artist’s creative manner is the mixing of genres: elements of a portrait, landscape or still life are combined in one work. This stylistic technique gives a visual representation of the harmony of the entire universe; the artist, using visual means, shows the symphonic unity of man with the world around him.
Work in the open air, direct contact with nature is fundamentally important for Vladimir Evgenievich Kozhevnikov - in his search, the painter is striving for plastic expressiveness and solving complex color problems. According to the art critic Irina Evreinova, “behind the broad and even dashing manner of painting, one feels a huge amount of work and professionalism, which allows two or three precise strokes to capture the characteristic outline of the church, outline the streets illuminated by the sun, and with measured movements outline the bent outlines of the backs of grazing cattle. At the same time, the artist does not try to accurately depict nature, he gives free rein to the viewer’s imagination, thereby allowing him to become a full participant in the work. The master seeks to enhance the peculiarity of the chosen motif, sharpening the character of the lines, playing with color contrasts, which allows you to create your own, new reality,
A poetic fusion with nature is also inherent in the paintings of the third author participating in the academic exhibition, Alexander Revelevich Fedorov. The individuality of the artist lies in the absence of a hint of a literary reading of the canvas. The joy of life, the fullness of being are interpreted by him exclusively by means of pictorial plasticity, the composition seems to be born from a keen sense of the happiness of being, a kind of amazement at the visible world. The master loves the life that surrounds him and tries to convey to the viewer all the charm of the world around us by means of painting. The works presented at the exhibition are full of joy and love for life, major intonation and at the same time the desire for a deep philosophical understanding of life.
