On August 21, 2021, for the first time in Kazan, an exhibition of works by the President of the Russian Geographical Society Sergei Shoigu opens. The exposition is called “Creativity for Life”. It will be presented to the public in the Kazan Kremlin at the Khazine National Art Gallery. Visitors will be able to see 100 works - 83 paintings and 17 decorative woodwork. Some of the exhibits next year will be sold at an auction, and the proceeds will be donated to help seriously ill children.

The exhibition presents picturesque paintings and graphic drawings with amazing views of Siberia: art plots reflect the splendor of Siberian nature and the originality of rural views of the eastern part of Russia. With his works, the author focuses on nature itself with all its refinement, originality and diversity.

The works were written in various techniques: pencil, ink, charcoal, watercolor, oil. In love with the beauty of his native land, Sergei Shoigu, in his youth, made sketches on paper, and still invariably continues to draw in rare moments of rest and during long flights. The author writes some landscapes from memory.

A special place in the exposition is occupied by wood products: vases, boxes and sculptures. Taking care of the preservation of nature, for his works the author uses only parts of trees felled by the elements, found by him during walks in the taiga. With particular attention to the intricate texture of the wood, he carefully handcrafts each element. This is how an unremarkable shapeless outgrowth is embodied in a unique artistic idea.

Wood objects are often complemented by artistic inserts and animalistic sculptures in bronze, copper and brass.

The Art for Life exhibition will run until September 12, 2021.
