Galina Grigoryeva studied at a music school in Simferopol, and then at the Odessa Conservatory under Professor Alexander Krasnov. In 1991, she graduated from the composition class of Yuri Falik at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. In 1992 she moved to Tallinn, where she studied at the graduate school of the Estonian Academy of Music with Professor Lepo Sumera. Now works as a free composer.
Galina Grigorieva’s works are performed by the Hortus Musicus ensemble (artistic director Andres Mustonen), the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, the Kremerat Baltic Chamber Orchestra, the Moscow Patriarchate Choir, the Latvian State Choir, the Kroumata percussion ensemble, and other musicians.
Grigorieva’s works were recorded by Estonian Radio, BBC Radio 3, Harmonia Mundi. Estonian Radio twice selected Grigorieva’s work to represent Estonia on the International Composer Tribune: in 2000, On Leaving was selected for presentation in Amsterdam, and Lament for 2002 in Paris.
Galina Grigoryeva was awarded the Heino Eller Music Award (2003) and the Estonian Culture Capital Award (2004).
Peeter Vähi was born in Estonia in 1955. In his youth, he played the accordion, piano and double bass. In 1974, he began studying composition at the Estonian Academy of Music in the class of Professor Eino Tamberg, and graduated as a composer in 1980. Peeter Vähi worked as a freelance composer and record producer, as well as a concert producer at the Estonian National Concert Institute (1990 - 2000). Currently, he is the art director of ERP (Estonian Recording Studio) and international music festivals - Orient Oriental Music Festival (from 1992 to the present), “Beadwork” (from 1995 to the present). Peeter Vähi - member of the Union of Estonian Composers (since 1982, on the podium since 1992), was vice president of the board of the Estonian Institute of Buddhism (2002 - 2014), full member of the Estonian Academic Oriental Society (since 1982), member Presidential Culture Council (2001-2008), President of the Drikung Kagyu Ratna Shri Center (1992-2005) and member of the Estonian-Japanese Association (since 2010).
