The Tretyakov Gallery takes a step. Igor Shelkovsky. "People" Gift of Alina and Dmitry Pinsky Automatic translate
October 7, 2019 in the courtyard of the New Tretyakov Gallery will forever settle three “people” Igor Shelkovsky - “Standing”, “Walking” and “Running”. Three-meter metal sculptures are created specifically for open space. Shelkovsky’s old dream of modern sculpture entering the city came true thanks to the gift of collectors Alina and Dmitry Pinsky.
The State Tretyakov Gallery, the main state custodian of national art, is taking the first step in the new practice of shaping public space, which is consonant with the future of the Tretyakov Gallery, which, according to the author of the reconstruction concept, Rem Koolhaas, will become an “open museum”.
“Art expresses the essence of its time, its era, and cannot be beyond this. We have in our collection - a few works of unofficial artists, almost no art of the 1990s, 2000s. Now we are trying to replenish the collection of contemporary art: thank you for the patrons and foundations who donate it to the State Tretyakov Gallery, ”Zelfira Tregulova said in an interview.
“We are pleased to help the State Tretyakov Gallery to display large-scale works - sculpture, installations, theatrical art objects… Our goal is to attract public interest, sponsors and donors to the formation of the museum’s current collection,” says cultural co-author Inna Krymova.
“The fact that Russia is now beginning to pay attention to our national art, including contemporary, leaves us with the hope that it will also be able to take its rightful place in the art of the world. If you want others to become interested in your art, first take an interest in it yourself. All countries go this way — from France to China, ”commented the artist Igor Shelkovsky.
