On August 28 at 4 pm, the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (103 Lenina St.) opens an exhibition of the famous Russian art dynasty of the Stekolschikov-Finogenov-Orlova “Art Traditions. Family traditions. Country traditions ”. The exhibition is an integral part of the International Project "Palette of Reality - Russian World". This project is being implemented by the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts and the Association of Artists and Cultural Workers "Creative Association" New Peredvizhniki "in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Arts and the Union of Artists of Russia. The main goal of this project, which was launched in 2014, is to preserve the best traditions of the Russian realistic school of fine arts and to familiarize Russian and foreign audiences with the works of leading contemporary masters of painting, graphics and sculpture.
At the opening exhibition you can get acquainted with the work of four generations of artists: Honored Artist of the RSFSR Konstantin Ivanovich Finogenov (1902 - 1989), his wife Vera Alexandrovna Orlova (1904 - 1993), their daughter, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Mlada Konstantinovna Finogenova, her husband, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Vyacheslav Konstantinovich Stekolshchikov, their grandson, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Anton Vyacheslavovich Stekolshchikov and their great-granddaughter Ksenia Antonovna Stekolshchikova. It is not so often in the history of art that there are creative dynasties, where each of its representatives, while remaining loyal to the traditions of the Russian realistic school, leaves their own unique mark. The Glazier-Finogenov-Orlova dynasty is one of them. Four generations of artists have reflected the history of our country in their works for almost a century.
The exhibition presents fifty paintings and graphic works by K. I. Finogenov, V. A. Orlova, M. K. Finogenova, V. K. Stekolshchikov, A. V. Stekolshchikov and K. A. Stekolshchikova, which give the most complete idea of creativity of each of them. A retrospective of the artistic path of the dynasty begins with the works of K. I. Finogenov and V. A. Orlova in the 1930s - 1940s and ends with the works of their great-granddaughter K. A. Stekolshchikova, created in 2019. The genre range of the exhibition is also wide: from KI Finogenov’s front drawings to thematic paintings, portraits, landscapes and interiors. Despite the fact that all the authors are representatives of the realistic school of painting, their works differ in their artistic vision, originality of the creative handwriting, color solutions, through which the creative individuality of each artist is expressed. All this conveys the uniqueness and diversity of the works presented in the exhibition.
The exhibition will run from August 28 to September 27, 2020 in the premises of the Information, Educational and Exhibition Center of the KMII (Lenin St., 103).
The museum is open from 10:00 to 18:00, on Saturday from 11:00 to 19:00. Closed on Monday.
