August 4 at 16:00 in the Gallery of Siberian Art of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. V.P. Sukachev (st. Karl Marx, 23) opens an exhibition from the Russian Academy of Arts - "Timely art. Leonid Baranov, his friends and heroes. "
The protagonist of the new exhibition is an outstanding sculptor, full member of the Russian Academy of Arts Leonid Baranov, working in the genre of historical portrait. Born in 1943, he already entered the history of Russian art in the early 70s with his inspired images of famous personalities of Russian history and culture. The images of Lomonosov, Suvorov, Pushkin, Gogol, Catherine II, Paul I created by him are marked by the independence of the artistic style and the unique personality of the interpretation of the historical portrait, as well as memorable experiments with spatial solutions of sculptural expositions. During his creative activity, Leonid Baranov managed to create a kind of sculpture theater.
However, the exhibition project involves the acquaintance of the audience not only with the work of Leonid Baranov. Along with a retrospective of his sculptures at the exhibition, one can see parallel evolutionary paths of the work of close masters-painters, graphic artists, sculptors and masters of decorative and applied art. Among them are Zurab Tsereteli, Mikhail Pereyaslavets, Andrey Kovalchuk, Alexander Burganov, Natalya Nesterova, Vladimir Brainin, Alexander Rukavishnikov, Ksenia Nechitailo and many others. The exhibition brings together more than 100 works of three dozen Russian artists, many of whom are academicians of the Russian Academy of Arts.
Ladies and birds flying away. Author Grechina O.N. 2010. Oil on canvas, 120x200
Unfinished portrait. L. Baranova, Lubennikov I.L. 2014. Oil on canvas. 80.5x60.5
The invited masters are represented by works of both the early period, the 1970-1980s, and recent years. Such an exposition demonstrates the stability of the artistic style that arose in our country in the 1970s, which allowed free travel from antiquity and the Renaissance to expressionism and surrealism.
Some authors are indirectly or directly related to Irkutsk. For example, the Irkutsk residents are already familiar with the work of Mikhail Pereyaslavets: he is the author of the monuments to Alexander Vampilov, Yakov Pokhabov and the Wives of the Decembrists.
The exhibition will open on August 4 at 16:00 in the Gallery of Siberian Art of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. V.P. Sukachev (st. Karl Marx, 23) and will work until September 27. Entrance to the opening is free. Phone for inquiries: 21-70-65.
