On October 23, an exhibition dedicated to the famous researcher of ancient Russian culture, collector of ancient spiritual poems, epics and folk songs Pyotr Vasilyevich Kireevsky (1808-1856) opens in the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (103 Lenin St.).
The collection of Kireyevsky, numbering about fifteen thousand texts, includes all types and genres of song folklore, as well as unique samples of songs from everyday, satirical, robber, factory, soldier and even prison ones. The earliest layer is represented by songs of the 16th - 17th centuries, however, songs of the 18th - early 19th centuries are no less interesting. The collector was the first to study songs after the time of Peter the Great: about the Seven Years War, about Suvorov, about Stepan Razin and Pugachev. The composition of the folklore collection of Kireevsky included songs from Simbirsk, Orenburg, Ryazan, Tula, Tver, Kaluga, Kostroma, Saratov, Voronezh, Pskov, Oryol, Nizhny Novgorod, Tambov, Minsk provinces.
The exhibition presents paintings and drawings from the collection of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts: works by N. A. Lyubchenko, P. N. Shlyapin, D. I. Ivanov, I. N. Kamyshanskaya.
For visitors, the exhibition will run from October 23, 2015 to November 29, 2015.
The museum is open from 10. 00 to 18. 00, on Thursday from 11. 00 to 19. 00 h.
