The creative name of the artist DIGITALINA immediately refers to the topic of digital technology. Using the components of a computer to create her art objects, the artist creates a special world in which a play of meanings arises, reflecting the interaction of a person with reality programmed by modern technical means.
The exhibition “Treasures of Microcivilizations” combines the works and copyright projects of Alina Belousova from different years. The exhibition features photographs, jewelry, panels and digital graphics, art objects created on a variety of topics: evolution, natural selection, progress, technology and many others.
“In an effort to combine and reconcile two realities, and maybe even the past with the future,
I’m trying to analyze what is happening around, as if collecting the leftovers from the picnic of microcivilizations, using their physical form. As she appears to us in this reality. I am collecting from these fragments of form and image discarded by the transience of technological evolution, physical objects and applied things. Just like the craftsmen who worked before the advent of new technologies, I use the texture of the material, as a jeweler with a precious stone or pearls does, and the sculptor uses marble. The material in this case is not docile paint or clay, not a 3D printer that is completely amenable to the will of the artist, but a co-author who owns his character and logic, in which, as in nature, it is not by chance that the difference is only in the creator. Based on this logic, many topics arise by themselves: technological progress and evolution, natural and unnatural selection, human development in a global sense, the expansion of human capabilities and abilities (not only physical ones), parallels between global processes and processes within a person, bionics, transhumanism, networks, boundaries of knowledge and their expansion… ”(from an interview with Alina Belousova).
