On August 1, 2019 at 16.00 in the National Art Gallery of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan (Kazan, the Kremlin, the Khazine Museum Complex, 3rd entrance), the exhibition of works by Soviet artists “Glory to Work!” Will open
A special phenomenon of Soviet art was the exhibition, called - “Glory to work!”, Designed to demonstrate the heroism of the builders of communism. The offensive nature of such expositions was leveled by the sincerity and professionalism of the works. Today they show us the history of the development of the theme of labor during the seventy years of the Soviet era. We can be impressed by the breadth of plans for the development of Kazakhstan virgin lands and open spaces, the construction of KamAZ and BAM, oil refineries, petrochemical and metallurgical plants, hydroelectric power stations.
Among the exhibits of the exhibition “Glory to Labor!”, Which opens in the National Art Gallery of the Pushkin Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, there are real masterpieces of the best representatives of socialist realism: A. and P. Smolins, A. Tkachev, B. Davydov, V. Zhemerikin, N. Kasumov, B. Nemensky, G. Nissky, I. Ruban, P. Sokolov-Skal, O. Filatchev, R. Kildibekov, N. Kuznetsov, V. Kudelkin, A. Mazitov, V. Popov, E. Simbirin, V. Skobeev, M. Usmanov. Many works are exhibited for the first time.
The exhibition recreated the artistic image of the country’s labor annals - from the release of the first tractor to the construction of an industrial society. The exposition also reflects the evolution of the history of the theme of labor throughout the 1920-1980s.
Soviet culture was oriented towards the “production” of labor heroes. Artists went to construction sites and factories, to collective farms and laboratories, ports and railways in order to capture on-site images of those with whose hands the most just society and labor processes themselves are being built. Heroes of labor were known by the country, their achievements were glorified, they were role models.
The exhibition “Glory to Labor!” Is an invitation to the memories of a bygone era.
The exhibition runs until September 5, 2019.
