On February 23, the Sergei Andriyaka School of Watercolors will open the cult exhibition “Masterpieces of Watercolors and Graphics by Austrian, English, German, Dutch and other West European artists of the 15th-20th centuries” from the collection of A.G. Egorova.
In total, the exhibition includes 207 works relating to various genres and directions of fine art in Austria, England, Germany, Holland and other European countries. A significant number of works are rare not only for private collections, but also for large museums. In particular, these little masterpieces are the works of Thomas Gainsborough, William Turner, Lucas van Leiden, Peter Brueghel the Elder, Gustav Klimt and others.
The exhibition also features works by artists who are referred to as “Russian” in the museum environment. These are works created by foreign authors who worked in Russia at a certain period of their work. These include the magnificent works of G. Opitz, K. Kohlman, as well as the composition of A. von Taich “Storming the Malakhov Kurgan” (1855), color lithographs by German artist T. Gorschelt, who volunteered for the Caucasian theater of operations̆. The engraving “Tsar Mikhail Fyodorovich, Grand Duke of Moscow at the age of 42” and the engraving by J. Kreisinger “Grand Duchess Alexandra Pavlovna”, 1799, deserve special attention.
Traditional “personalities” include a wonderful portrait of Count I. Witt from the work of J. Dow. It will also be possible to see watercolor views of the Moscow Kremlin made around 1800 by the artist L. F. Tishbein and landscape painting by V. A. Beer “On a hill near Aleksin”, 1868.
A special place is occupied by a series of 55 works by the English artist D. O. Atkinson, whose work is entirely devoted to the life, life and entertainment of the Russian people (1803–1804).
The general partner of the exhibition is PAO Severstal. Severstal’s Deputy Chief Director for Communications and Government Relations Alexey Egorov noted:
“This exhibition is the second part of our project, the first part of which was presented to the audience in November 2018. Then you could see the work of artists from Italy, France and Spain. European masters are also represented here, starting with prominent representatives of the Northern Objection, such as A. Dürer, L. Cranach, G. Holbein the Younger, Rembrandt and others, and ending with world-famous representatives of Art Nouveau, such as G. Klimt, O. Kokoshka, A Fly. These graphic works can be seen in museums very rarely, and they are of unusual interest to a wide range of visitors. Severstal and I personally sincerely thank the Sergey Andriyaka School of Watercolor for their assistance in hosting the second exhibition of outstanding Western European artists. ”
Sergey Andriyaka’s School of Watercolors expresses sincere gratitude to Alexei Georgievich Egorov for the opportunity to present wonderful works of famous artists within the walls of the Museum and Exhibition Complex.
