As you know, there are things that you can look at forever - and water is one of them. On September 29, an unusual exhibition of photographs of water sculptures by Moscow photographer Sergei Tolmachev will open at the Gallery’s sports art club (Pechatniki). The works are united by a relatively innovative direction for Russia in Liquid art photography, macro photography of water drops. The exhibition includes the best works of the author over the past five years.
The work of photographer Sergei Tolmachev is unique in that the author, in fact, is the absolute creator of his photographic works - first he creates a special nozzle with which he “grows” a water sculpture from a drop of water, and then photographs it. Water transforms into bizarre plants, psychedelic mushrooms, fantastic sea jellyfish, butterflies, spreading their wings, and, as if coming out of colorful dreams, freezing for a split second only for a picture of the master.
This exhibition coincided with the birthday of the Gallery art club (Pechatniki), a site that has established itself as one of the most welcoming and democratic gallery spaces in Moscow. The club celebrates its third anniversary. Over the three years of the existence of the art space, a variety of photographers exhibited their works in it, both debutants and recognized masters: Pavel Korbut, Tofig Shakhverdiev, Andrey Nechaev, Victoria Rogotneva and many others. With the active support of the Gallery, the FIXAGE International Festival of Contemporary Photography has been held for two years.
