The exhibition was implemented as part of the Factory Workshops. Session IV. " The exhibition "Everything is clear with you" consists of a series of graphic and pictorial works and is devoted to the study of patterns that perceive modern people.
Internet culture and social networks use the classification of emotions in the form of well-recognized memes and smileys / emojis. Looks on Instagram replicate stereotypical self-representations, expressing user sentiment. In her project, Karina Barabanova correlates these phenomena with the stimulus material of classical psychological tests, ironic over a person’s desire to describe reality in understandable and simple schemes.
In the artist’s works, memes and emojis of the modern world enter into a dialogue with portraits from the Sondi test. The concept of fate analysis, developed by the Hungarian psychologist Leopold Sondi in the last century, deals with a certain regularity, which obeys the selectivity of a person in communicating with others. Similar projective mechanisms work now. Persons from the Sondi test, performed in an academic manner, interact with Internet memes, provocatively contrasting with their primitive "design" and carefree optimism. The figures from the Libin emetric test are adjacent to the smiles that have received universal reading and distribution today. And diagrams from psychodiagnostic tests turn into mysterious “psychographic” abstractions. Comparing these images, the artist recalls that the goal of both those and others is the classification of human emotions.
