The Kaluga regional public organization in support of children with disabilities, children with disabilities and disabled children from childhood “CITY OF HOPE” is holding an Exhibition of artworks created by children and adults with disabilities within the framework of the project of the Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization “Program of Comprehensive Personality Rehabilitation“ League of Dreams ”“ Artistic and aesthetic development and teaching the fine arts of children with special needs based on the traditions of the Russian avant-garde, the school of Vasily Kandinsky and VKHUTEMAS, as well as the Russian classical school.
The main idea of the project, supported by the Russian Cultural Foundation, is to demonstrate the possibilities and promote successful experience in teaching children and adults with disabilities in the visual arts using a methodology based on the largest Russian art education systems.
Accents on color forms and geometric shapes are understandable for children and adults, with their help it is easy to build a composition. Taking as an example the work of the great Russian avant-garde artists Malevich, Larionov, Tatlin and others, it is possible to teach composition and expressive depiction of physical and mental states (fear, calmness, balance, etc.) to students with impaired coordination and development.
Within the framework of the project, in Moscow and 7 regions of the Russian Federation, face-to-face master classes for teachers of fine arts on teaching and new technologies for working with children and adults with disabilities and a series of online classes in the "question-answer" format were held, during which students from the regions were able to get answers to their questions from specialists.
The exhibition presents unique artworks created by the participants of the ANO Dream League program in Kaluga within the framework of the project and a book-album, which can be considered as a methodological guide for artistic and aesthetic development and teaching the fine arts of people with different types of disabilities. This album outlines many years of experience working with children and adults with disabilities, contains finished artwork and a description of the main approaches to learning. The album confirms that visual arts are accessible to all and can serve to popularize and demonstrate the capabilities of people with disabilities.
