This weekend is the seventeenth in a row (and the second time in Suzdal) rally of figures of design and new media. The founders and organizers of the project are Artyom Geller (General Director of Ag.lab, website designer for the President and Government of the Russian Federation, an expert from the IIDF) and Vyacheslav Pravdzinsky (Deputy Project Manager of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation “Perspective”). Hundreds of designers from more than a dozen regions of Russia gathered on their site for the design weekend.
During a meeting with designers, the mayor of Suzdal spoke about plans for the development of the city, the main trends and tasks. He also asked designers to get involved in solving a number of pressing problems. In particular, to offer ideas for developing a cultural program for local residents, to think over where it is best to make walking and bicycle paths.
Designers will also need to think through a strategy for the development of the tourism industry and ways to motivate local youth to stay in Suzdal.
“The guys also interviewed local residents about what exactly they like in their city and what is missing in it. Based on the results, proposals for the development of the city will be prepared, which we will publish in the public domain, as well as send to the mayor of Suzdal, ”said Vyacheslav Pravdzinsky, one of the organizers of the design weekend, deputy project manager of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation“ Perspective ”.
“We want to make design better in Russia and mainly we want to increase the level of design in the regions. For this, we attract the best Russian professionals in the design industry to the event, ”said Artyom Geller.
Design weekend is a public educational project of the Russian design community. Its organizers, experts and participants are practicing designers from Moscow and the regions.
The project is based on the principles of voluntary and free exchange of knowledge, it is a fundamentally non-profit project. No entry tickets and no fees to lecturers. Everyone can take part in the event.
Over the three years the project has existed, more than 7,000 people took part in it.
