“Geoglyph - geometric or figured pattern applied to the ground; many geoglyphs are so large that they can only be viewed from the air ”(Wikipedia)
“Geoglyphs” by Rinat Minnebaev are made using the technique of low relief using paper pulp and natural dyes (clay, chalk, ocher). Maps of major cities of the world are recreated from documentary aerial photographs: today’s megacities and capitals of deceased civilizations.
The project "Geoglyphs" is not an "alternative future", it is the present of megalopolises of the planet Earth. Ur, Merv, Beijing, Barcelona, New York, Moscow and other living and dead cities form complex geometric patterns on the surface of the planet. The memory of the city as annual rings is concentrated in a low relief of clay, stone and concrete, almost eternal in comparison with its inhabitants — people, cats, pigeons and cockroaches.
The city as a planetary entity does not need people. Someday, when the whole history of mankind is forgotten as an empty sound, only compressed structures of moats and hills will remain on the surface of the Earth: prints of the great cities of the past, giant geoglyphs. Today we can already see them on the reliefs of Rinat Minnebaev.
