The Russian Academy of Arts presents an exhibition of works by the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, Academician and member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts Nikolai Ivanovich Borovsky "The Joy of Being". The exposition presents more than 100 works of realistic art created by the author for half a century of artistic biography.
“I write what I know and what I love,” says the artist about the creation of works. The decorative solution of the canvases, unexpected, witty compositions, expressive images, philosophical interpretation of the motive - everything speaks of the author as a great master of painting.
Nikolai Borovskaya is a master of psychological portraiture: he subtly conveys the direct charm of human characters and reveals a complex inner world, a difficult life path in each character. In his portrait works, the master uses a set of techniques characteristic of him: a simple pose, close-up, classically clear composition, thoughtful color - all this allows to reveal the image of the person being portrayed in the variety of his emotions and experiences. Almost all the images are documentary and dramatic, formed under the influence of the life experience of the author, whose biography includes post-war childhood, work on collective farm fields and a meat-packing plant, and service in the Soviet army.
“Nikolai Borovskoy is a born storyteller, he doesn’t need countless details and accessories to make his portraits speak. His characters seem to be rushing to us from the canvas, each with his own life story - such is the tension of his painting, ”notes art critic N. Anikina.
Fidelity to nature is one of the main principles of the artist, regardless of the genre in which he works. Observation, the ability to grasp the essence and convey the mood manifested itself not only in portraits, but also in landscapes. The geography of his landscape masterpieces is as extensive as the geography of our country: here you can find the mountain ranges of the North Caucasus, the Crimean heat and the cozy tightness of Moscow streets. Especially dear to the artist is the lyricism of the Russian hinterland, namely the village of Borisoglebsky with panoramas of the most ancient monastery of the XIV century - it is here that the artist draws inspiration and spends his creative holidays. In all landscapes, the master seeks to convey various states of nature using a gradation of tonal relationships.
However, one of the most dear to the artist motives, which runs through all his work, are apple orchards, united in the cycles "Seasons" and "Old Apple Trees - Like Destinies". From an artistic point of view, images of old trees allow introducing intricate plastics and bizarre rhythms into the picture, and from a philosophical point of view, psychological depth, which gives the pictorial cycle a memorable imagery.
Nikolai Borovskoy is one of the leading masters of realistic art; he has preserved the best traditions of the Russian art school throughout his entire career. Nikolai Ivanovich began his professional academic education at the Crimean Art School named after NS Samokish. Since 1979 he studied at the faculty of monumental painting of the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I.Surikov, where his mentors were prominent professors: Yu. Korolev, A. Myzin, A. Fomkin, I. Shatsky, B. Thorn.
His work has earned wide recognition among audiences and fellow artists. The author is a laureate of the RF Government Prize in the field of culture, winner of a gold medal of the Russian Academy of Arts and many other awards, as well as a participant in more than 150 different art exhibitions. Nikolai Ivanovich’s paintings are included in the collections of large museums in Russia, as well as in corporate and private collections of paintings in many countries of the world.
N.I.Borovskaya conducts active and fruitful social activities. Currently he is the first secretary of the All-Union Society of Artists of Russia, chairman of the Moscow Artists’ Union, professor at the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I.Surikov.
