Fifth International Festival "Bright People": two days, a 10-hour theater show and the main cultural institutions of the city Automatic translate
September 10 and 11 as part of the celebration of Moscow City Day at the Central Park Gorky will host the 5th International Festival of Theater Arts and Creativity "Vivid People". The festival will present a 10-hour show combining various types of theatrical and visual art, with the Russian-French premiere of an air musical and acrobatic performance, vibrant theater projects and the main cultural participating institutions.
At the anniversary festival, Bright People and the French street theater Remue Ménage will show the first joint performance, Legends of the Wind, which was specially prepared for the festival by Russian and European visual theater masters throughout the year.
“We have long dreamed of working with European artists and directors and creating our own large-scale show. Combine vivid visual images that would be perfectly readable in urban space, with a dramatic plot that gives the action depth and meaning. For us, this is an experiment and a challenge - to create images, costumes, air sculptures here in Russia, combining the knowledge and experience of Russian and European masters. While street entertainment shows have become a tradition for France, this is the first time such a production has been set up in Russia and this is really unique, ”says Maria Halperina, the author of the project and the art director of the festival.
The basis of the principle of the Remue Ménage company is an emphasis on visuality: large objects, expressive images, large-scale decorations and a complex staging. The director of the play, Remue Ménage art director Loic Delacroix, graduated from the l’AFPIC high school of art with a stylist diploma and managed to build a career in Hermès and Louis Vuitton haute couture houses, but the passion for circus art eventually prevailed. So his own style was formed - in the combination of high fashion style and street circus art. This will be the performance of extraordinary beauty, with many complex images and new technological and choreographic solutions.
On an area of more than 10,000 m2, a show will unfold with giant flying figures, large-scale decorations and stage constructions in the street - theater stages for artists in the form of flowers, jumpers - birds, dancers, bearing stars, aerial acrobats and an opera singer - the goddess of nature, riding on four meter moon.
The scenery is created specifically for the festival. Huge inflatable sculptures - tornadoes and the sun, reaching a height of three meters, and ten huge stars will be carried over the heads of the show participants. All the elements of the performance - from inflatable sculptures to costumes and headdresses of the participants will glow in the night - more than two thousand meters of garlands are used to create them. Costumes for artists are made of fabric that is specially designed for the show, and all the decorations are manually painted under the guidance of French artists.
The music for the play was written by Viktor Sologub, a well-known Russian rock musician, film composer, who participated in the pop mechanics and Deadushki groups and worked with Boris Grebenshchikov, Sergei Kurekhin and Vyacheslav Butusov.
In addition to the Wind Legends show, viewers will see more than ten street performances and performances from the theater companies participating in the festival. Among them this year are a snow-white retro circus with five-meter-high designs from AirCircus, a street performance with unusual decorations by the Sketches in Space theater, a performance at the intersection of fashion, circus and the theater “A Dream That Doesn’t Dream” by artist Venus Kazarova, where each costume made of doubler and felt is crafted so that the fabric resembles paper, and the show itself is unrealistic with images - costumes, messages and costumes - worlds; production from the street theater Tall Brothers (High Brothers); Freak Fabrik’s street urban fairy tale based on E. Schwartz’s play “The Dragon” and a fairy-tale snowy world created by the Light Faces Theater, using its own technological developments, including programmable microcontrollers that allow you to control LED costumes, neon elements and pneumatic structures.
The culmination of the festival will traditionally be the theatrical procession "Air Elements": wind, clouds and celestial bodies - stars, the moon, the sun - will float over the entire space of the festival and will become part of the overall stage design.
In addition to a rich theater program, the festival will traditionally be attended by the most vibrant people of the city: more than a thousand artists and artists. Art installations, performances, performances, choreographic productions and master classes are united by a common plot and are prepared specially for the festival. Here will be presented projects of important cultural institutions of the city, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Russian Impressionism, the Museum of Architecture.
