On March 14 at 16.00 in the Gallery of Siberian Art (Karl Marx St., 23) the exhibition “Space of Creativity” opens, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting and Design named after. V. G. Smagina INRTU. The exhibition includes works by more than 100 participants (both students and teachers) in the techniques of painting, graphics, artistic ceramics, mosaics, stained glass, hot enamel, photography, graphic and landscape design, as well as urban design, interior design and costume design. The exhibition includes works by the founder of the department, Vitaly Georgievich Smagin.
The Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting of IRNTU was founded by People’s Artist of Russia, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts Vitaly Georgievich Smagin, who laid the foundation for higher art education in Irkutsk and headed it until 2015. Since 2017, the department bears the name of its founder and includes the areas of monumental and decorative painting and design. Since 2021, its head is the artist of monumental and decorative painting, member of the Union of Artists of Russia, associate professor of the Higher Attestation Commission Dmitry Vladimirovich Dorokhin.
Over the 30 years of the department’s existence, more than 1,500 students have received higher education and become qualified specialists. The exhibition reflects the history of the development of the department, and also represents its best students and graduates.
