In the Pushkin Museum im. A.S. Pushkin, an exhibition dedicated to the mummies of ancient Egypt. Visitors can see more than 400 exhibits, some of which were previously available only to specialists. The exposition presents mummies of people and animals, sarcophagi, funeral shrouds and masks, Fayum portraits, fragments of tomb reliefs and other monuments of artistic craft associated with the funeral cult. The project tells the modern viewer how the ancient inhabitants of the Nile Valley imagined eternal existence, about their beliefs and practices aimed at gaining life beyond the threshold of death.
Ancient Egypt is one of the world’s most mysterious cultures. The exhibition at the Pushkin Museum and the program developed for it allow you to get to know the ancient Egyptians, who believed that gods and heroes once lived among people and taught them crafts, agriculture, and art.
