The exhibition "About buttons. What buttons say and what they are silent about" is an exhibition-memory, an exhibition-dedication…
About 20 artists from Voronezh, Klin, Moscow, St. Petersburg, working in various techniques, will show their works. Painting, graphics, collages, mosaics, ceramics, installations are presented.
Buttons used to be never thrown away. When an item became worn out and unusable, buttons were carefully cut off and placed in boxes, caskets, and bags. All this was done in order to reuse buttons. Lace, zippers, cufflinks, beaded decorations for dresses, bobbins, boxes for storing machine needles, and all sorts of other small items were stored together with buttons. Many families have boxes and bags with buttons. It’s a pity to throw them away, somehow your hand doesn’t rise, and they have no practical value, especially in our time. It happens that a box with buttons is the only thing left from a family or a person, a house. When you turn over such a box and all these treasures roll out onto the table, you hang over a pile of useless objects for a long time, examining, remembering, thinking… Buttons tell us different stories…
The exhibition about buttons brought together a group of artists, where each work is a separate story.
