December 3, 2016 at 12. 00 in the Grand Guard Palace will be a presentation of the exhibition part of the project - an exhibition of works by the People’s Artist of the USSR and the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador ZK Tsereteli “Knowledge of Good”. The exhibition will be open for visitors from December 4, 2016 to January 15, 2017. It will include two sections - pictorial and sculptural.
Tsereteli Z.K.’s unique work in the field of spiritual art and the embodiment of traditional biblical and gospel themes in round sculpture is truly one of the most outstanding phenomena of modern art life in Russia. According to the artist, the spiritual history should be studied and lived by the viewer. The sculptural compositions “Baptism of the Lord”, “Carrying the Cross”, “Crucifixion”, “Entrance to Jerusalem” and others are a high example of the synthesis of modern volumetric plastics and the canonical Christian tradition in art. This series, supplemented by images of the Holy Apostles (figures) and biblical subjects (reliefs), expositionally emphasizes a strong artistic image and dramatic tension, will present the artist’s palette of plastic craftsmanship and high standards of the national sculpture school.
The picturesque cycle of works presented in the second section of the exhibition will familiarize the audience with another facet of the work of one of the leading Russian art masters. The fusion of fantasy, dream textures and visual observations of reality remains a constant of Tsereteli’s art. In his compositions - a striving for images of primitive nature, proto-man, for beauty, devoid of pathos, false shine, to the beginning, which should symbolize the truth. So, unexpectedly, the main thing is revealed - the very essence of the “beginning of everything”, for the sake of which, perhaps, man was created. His "magical realism", where the past enters into dialogue with the present and the most insignificant details take on importance, shows the sacred value of life - Love, Faith, Good. This is earthly life itself in its momentary sketches and monumental canvases of eternity, in its chamber and grand scale. And every day, the master calls the viewer to the knowledge of good and opens up possible worlds that become available in his artistic dimension.
