The Russian Academy of Arts and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art present an exhibition dedicated to Inessa, exhibition of works by UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, People’s Artist of the USSR and the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Academy of Arts and Director of the Moscow Art Museum Zurab Konstantinovich Tsereteli. The exhibition presents more than 30 paintings by the author - portraits, still lifes and landscapes that are dear to the heart of the master.
Probably, there is not and cannot be in the world a single artist who, regardless of age, would not be inspired by Her Majesty the Woman. The artist Zurab Tsereteli also has his own Muse - the dearly beloved wife of Inessa, with whom most of her life’s journey has been covered.
Numerous canvases dedicated to Inessa eloquently speak about the attitude of her master. He writes them throughout his creative life, they are different in style and manner - from realistic to abstract portraits of dedications. Years after Inessa’s departure from life, the artist still often turns to her image, as if again and again thanks to the happiness of the years she lived together. But the pain of loss does not subside and sometimes splashes on the canvas. In the portrait of Inessa, written in 2008, the heroine holds a candle in her hands, and she herself is surrounded by many burning candles. The composition reproduces Georgian folk wisdom: the light of a candle does not allow to lose the road. In this picture you especially feel the vitality of the artist, and the strength of his love for the one about which he said immediately after their marriage: "I had a desire that every day I lived would be a holiday for my wife." And later: “I tried to make her whole life joyful. I’m lucky to have a wonderful wife. ”
The paintings of Zurab Tsereteli presented at the exhibition are filled with a feeling of love for his wife. They again and again prove to the viewer that it is love that serves as the source of true art. Marc Chagall, with whom the artist was lucky to communicate, often repeated that "it is impossible to write a picture without love."
The exhibition also features portraits of the artist’s daughter and grandson, as well as close friends of the Tsereteli family, which reinforces the impression of the exhibition’s chamberness and gives it an intimate, personal character. The artist, as it were, invites the viewer to his personal space, trusting him with the most valuable that he has in life.
