State Museum of Architecture named after A.V. Shchuseva presents the exhibition project “Zaryadye Portal”, in the framework of which 15 works by contemporary Russian artists will be presented. Each work is a reflection, provocation or question on the topic of charge; and also the actualization of the issue of its relationship with the aesthetic, political and economic orders of the late capitalism of Moscow in the 21st century.
Zaryadye Park, opened on the city’s day in 2017, is an expensive image project located near the Kremlin. It was created by the architects of the Manhattan High Line on the site of the Rossiya Hotel. Zaryadye Park, according to cultural expert Anton Kalgaev, is the “Portal to Hell”. The architect Timur Bashkaev answered him: "not only a portal to hell, but also to paradise!"
The exhibition is based on “Zaryadyeology” - a joint research project by the anthropologist of architecture Michal Murawski (University College London) and a group of students and staff of the A. A. Vysokovsky Urban School. The artists participating in the exhibition were invited to incorporate their interpretations of the ethnographic work presented into the conceptual or material essence of the charge-works that they created.
The exhibition provides an extensive program of discussions, performances and lectures that will be held at the Museum of Architecture, in Zaryadye Park itself and at the Archstoyanie festival in Nikola-Lenivets. The exhibition is part of the parallel program of the 7th Moscow International Biennale of Young Art.
