From March 30 to April 10, in the framework of the Year of the Music of Great Britain and Russia 2019, the exhibition “Poet Mechanic: Contact Leads to Infections” by British artist and composer Cameron Graham will be held at the Solyanka Gallery.
Curator: Sasha Elina
Architect: Gleb Moskovkin
“Poet Mechanic: Contact Leads to Infections” is a lively musical installation. Exploring the concept of “liminality”, that is, the ritual of transition from one state to another, the exhibition revolves around an autonomously sounding musical object - the “poet of a mechanic” - a hybrid instrument created on the basis of various transformations of a classic vinyl player. The traditional medium becomes an unusual, practically living mechanical performer interacting with resonating objects located around. The installation, combining sound, sculpture and transformed space, will involve visitors in the processes of the ritual addressed to the theme of the relationship between the human and non-human, mechanical and poetic.
