April 27 in the conference hall of the Museum of the Academy of Arts announced the list of winning creative works of the XI contest "Peace will save love." At the exhibition in the Titian Hall, 207 paintings, graphic sheets, sculptures and architectural sketches competed.
The awarding of laureates of prizes to aspiring artists of the academic schools of St. Petersburg - the Repin Institute and the Johanneson Academic Lyceum - completed the XIth competition for the awards of philanthropist Igor Minakov. The jury evaluated the work in 5 creative nominations: “Painting”, “Sculpture”, “Graphics”, “Architecture”, “Young Artist”; they competed 207 copyright works. In the nomination "Painting" 80 paintings competed; in the Chart - 26; in Sculpture -62, in Architecture -18. In the nomination "Young artist" authors of 21 works competed.
By decision of the jury, the 1st prize in the nomination "Painting" was awarded the work "Peace Time" by Elena Kondratova (4th year of the faculty of painting). In the nomination "Sculpture" the winner was recognized as the song "Defender" by Anna Gripaseva (5 year). In the nomination “Graphics”, the first prize following the results of a jury vote was presented to the author of the “Touch” lithography Ksenia Avramova (6 year). In the nomination "Architecture" the first prize was awarded to the project "Path of Love" by students of Philip Tyszkowski (3rd year) and Ekaterina Parfenova (2nd year).
The jury of the XI contest was headed by the head of the creative workshop at the Repin Institute, artist Hamid Savkuev and an honorary member of the jury - chairman of the Union of Artists of St. Petersburg, people’s artist, sculptor Albert Charkin. Artists from the Repin Institute, as well as masters widely known in St. Petersburg and Russia, were invited to the jury of the XI patron saint. In the nomination “Architecture”, the level of conceptual designs was determined by professors of the Department of Architecture Vyacheslav Ukhov, Honored Architect of Russia, Head of the Studio 44 Architectural Bureau Nikita Yavein and Head of the Architectural Studio Sergey Shvedov. The jury was also attended by artists: Nikolai Blokhin, Pavel Shevchenko, Klim Lee and Dmitry Dergunov. The work of the competition experts was based on open voting.
Congratulating the participants of the XI contest, the Chairman of the Committee on Culture of the Administration of St. Petersburg Konstantin Sukhenko stressed the importance of the general cultural event, which is an exhibition of artists. “Beauty saves the world - this truth is still relevant,” the head of the committee emphasized, speaking to the participants at the award ceremony, and thanked them for their bright, talented work and creative activity.
The first Patron’s Prize is 100,000 rubles, the Second - 80,000 and the Third - 60,000 rubles. The premium fund of the XI contest exceeded 1.5 million rubles. The organization of a competitive exhibition and competitions of artists is carried out from the personal funds of the philanthropist Igor Minakov.
This year the Award celebrates its 10th anniversary. 10 years ago the first student competition was organized, in the future the competitions were held annually. Over the years, 227 artists have become winners of nominations and laureates of philanthropic prizes. For the first time over the years, a competitive exhibition was held in the Grand Titian Hall of the Research Museum at the Russian Academy of Arts.
In two weeks, the Organizing Committee of the Igor Minakov Prize project will invite viewers to the award website, where from May to June an Internet vote will open for two awards in the Public Recognition nomination: the best picture and the best sculpture. Each prize is 100,000 rubles.
