On November 6, an online tour of the city center for people with visual impairments appeared in Moscow. The tour “Hello, Moscow is special!” Was prepared by the Museum of Architecture named after BUT. V. Shchuseva and the team of the city project “Hello, Moscow!” As part of the “Special Vision” program of the Art, Science and Sport Foundation.
A special project was developed for one of Moscow’s most historically significant routes, the B bus, which runs along the Garden Ring. Now, people with visual impairments will have access to cognitive leisure in the city independently and autonomously, simply by entering the city bus, following the outer ring in its usual route and schedule. All objects will be accompanied by tiflokommentirovanie that will allow them to imagine what the sights in the center look like. Listen to the tour and learn on the way interesting facts about the capital, its architecture with a slight theatrical accent, to learn the city from new perspectives and to open familiar places again, everyone can.
The route is currently available in the izi app. TRAVEL, and in the future it is planned to post an online guide on the portal of the program “Special Look” specialview.org.
“According to statistics from the Ministry of Health for 2017, more than 485 thousand people with various visual impairments live in Moscow,” continues Ksenia Dmitrieva, head of the “Special Look” program of the Art, Science and Sport charity foundation. - Like other residents of the city, they regularly use transport, using applications that help them navigate the route. And if sighted people can be distracted by the views outside the window, then the blind and visually impaired have one goal - to get from point A to point B. With this project we want to give them the opportunity to perceive the city space in which they are located, to feel like a tourist, recognizing the description and history of significant architectural objects. ”
“Of all the arts, architecture is perhaps the most accessible for sighted people and at the same time difficult to comprehend for the blind. The Museum of Architecture seeks to tell visually impaired visitors about it with the help of tactile objects and tiflokommentarii at exhibitions. And today - together with colleagues from the project “Hello, Moscow!” And the Art, Science and Sport Charitable Foundation - we have made the urban space inclusive, giving rise to a dialogue of architectural heritage with the inhabitants of the capital, who may first recognize it and love it again ", - added Elizabeth Likhacheva, director of the Museum of Architecture. A.V. Schuseva.
