The first public art exhibition on Red Square Automatic translate
From July 1 to August 31, 2021, the GUM-Red-Line festival will be held on Red Square in Moscow with an exhibition of topical Russian public art "Red Garden" as part of the open art festival "Cherry Forest". The organizers of the event are GUM and the Archstoyanie festival. The general partner is the INTECO company, which has provided art objects from the corporate collection for the exposition.
For two months of summer, a large-scale exhibition of modern sculpture will be held on the main square of the country. The cultural significance of the event is due to both the venue and the impressive composition of the exposition, collected by the curators of Archstoyanie. All objects, six of which will enter the INTECO corporate collection after the exhibition, are free statements of iconic Russian artists on topics close to their work.
Among the artists of the project are the main names belonging to several trends in Russian art over the past 30 years: Nikolai Polissky, Aristarkh Chernyshev, Rinat Voligamsi, Dmitry Zhukov, Andrey Filippov, Roman Ermakov, Dmitry Aske, Vasilisa Prokopchuk and Evgeny Bragin. All works are made in different techniques from different materials, some artistic techniques are used by the authors for the first time. The exposition is a cultural cross-section of current public art, in which there is a place for both Asuke’s polygonal figures and Chernyshev’s digital pop art.
"Column" by Nikolay Polissky is woven of hazel from the fields of Nikola-Lenivets. Here, more than 20 years ago, Polissky gathered an artel of master artists from the villagers who work with natural materials from Kaluga forests. This is how the unique annual Archstoyanie festival was born. Simultaneously with the exposition "Red Garden" in the GUM-Red-Line gallery from July 21, you can see the first personal exhibition of Polissky in Moscow - the total installation "Russian Antiquity". The construction of Rinat Voligamsi "Star" is made of the artist’s "proprietary" material - corten steel. The recognizable star symbol is transformed into a rusted cosmic crystal, as if left behind by other civilizations. Steel "Gnomon" by Andrey Filippov symbolizes the connection between astronomy and history. A wing-shaped sundial casts a shadow and reveals the figure of a two-headed eagle:one part is made of metal, the other is ephemeral. “Looking at this shadow, we observe the Cosmos,” says the artist. And Dmitry Zhukov creates traditional metal "trompe l’oeil". The work "French de Sad" presents bosquets - trimmed shrubs forged from metal.
As a result of the project, the exhibits will be installed in public spaces of Moscow, near the Bosco Manufactory in Kaluga, in the Nikola-Lenivets art park, and will also become striking elements of the design of INTECO residential projects.
“In all progressive cities of the world, the demand for public art is constantly growing. We know a lot of examples when a sculptural statement becomes an unofficial center of the city, a point of attraction, changes the architectural and emotional perception of a place. Soon in New York, a new work by sculptor Anish Kapoor will be realized, which will be located at the base of the skyscraper. INTECO turned its attention to the shortage of topical public art in Moscow and, as a company that has certain sites for placing large-scale works, decided to support the work of talented authors. At the same time, we make residential properties more attractive for buyers, saturate their living environment with unique museum-level exhibits, ”- Evgeny Semenov, First Vice President of INTECO.
“We, as developers, are aware of the importance of the cultural context that surrounds us and into which we are constantly interwoven. Therefore, in our art projects, it is essential for us not to engage in reproduction of still lifes from "garden gnomes", but to involve recognized curators and established experts in the field of contemporary art in joint work. The collection of INTECO’s works for the Red Garden exhibition on Red Square was created under the supervision of the Archstoyania team. Together, we have added a new page to the encyclopedia of the development of modern public art ", - Irina Korshunova, director of the marketing department, curator of special projects of INTECO.
“Having 15 years of experience in creating the largest art park in Europe in Nikola-Lenivets, as well as working in many Russian cities in the field of public art, we are well aware of our responsibility to the city, audience and authors of works. To create the first exposition of public art on Red Square is a creative challenge for us, which, we hope, will give a qualitative start for discussion and decision-making by the city about the systematic appearance of art on the streets of the city. For us, as producers and curators of this project, it was important not only to create high-quality works, but also to build the entire chain of the appearance of such art in Moscow - customer-environment-audience-curator-author, where each element is fundamental for the stability and durability of the whole process ", - Yulia Bychkova, managing partner of the Nikola-Lenivets art park, producer of the Archstoyanie and Archstoyanie Children’s festivals.
