Valery Chevelev was born in 1946 in Irkutsk. In 1967 he graduated from the Irkutsk College of Arts. Since 1973 he was fond of monumental art. Engaged in wood carving, mosaics, paintings, stained glass, decorative reliefs. Valery Vasilievich together with Evgeny Ushakov created the panel “My City” for the Irkutsk House of Life, which was noted in the catalog “The Best Works of the Year in Monumental Art”. He is the author of a mosaic relief on the building of the Irkutsk Institute of the Earth’s Crust, three stained-glass windows for the civil aviation museum. Since 1973, as a painter, he participated in city, regional, and zonal exhibitions. Performed in Finland, Bulgaria, Germany. The artist’s works are in private collections in Germany, France, Canada, USA, Finland, in the gallery "Nikolai Marinov" in Bulgaria. Since 1991 - a member of the Union of Artists of Russia.

The new exposition presents several leading genres: portraits, landscapes and household painting. Particular attention is drawn to a series of works created in Mongolia. The national color of the surrounding space is refracted through the prism of perception of the artist himself. Chamber lyrical landscapes will introduce the viewer to the reserved corners of the vast Taiga. For example, the work “At Twilight of Tayura” was written under the impression of a creative trip to the north of the region on the taiga river Tayura. Landscapes in the moonlight, taiga romance - all this on the canvases of the Irkutsk artist Valery Chevelev.
