Since August 27, 2019, the National Art Gallery of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan (Kazan, the Kremlin, the Khazine Museum Complex, 3rd entrance) presents a personal exhibition of Ismagil Mintagirovich Khalilullov’s works.

Ismagil Mintagirovich Khalilullov was born in one of the Tatar villages of the Kuibyshev (now Samara) region in 1929. Since 1947, his life was completely connected with Kazan, where he came to enter the Kazan Art College (1947 – 1952). He worked in the Tatar Art Fund. He was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, a member of the Board, chairman of the artistic council of the Hudfond. Honored Artist of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.

The name of this great and bright artist, even during his lifetime, was included in all encyclopedias and reference books, articles and anthologies of fine art of Tatarstan in the second half of the 20th century.

The work of I.M.Khalilullov is devoted to the pages of the history of his people - Lenin, Tukaev, revolutionary (the exhibition presents the Firstborn, The Reds in the Village), the theme of the village, which is especially close to the artist (Lonely, Leaving). Between work on large paintings on a historical and revolutionary theme, Khalilullov writes landscapes, still lifes ("Landscape of the Tatarstan", "Cold", "Still Life with a Cornflower", etc.). The lyrical picture, which stands apart in the work of I. M. Khalilullov, both in color and in theme, is a very famous work, “My Relatives.” Sensitive and unexpected in the presentation of the material, a large and original master of composition, Khalilullov creates a collective image of his mother and father, which is inextricably linked with the image of the Motherland, native land.

The artist has his own unique style. It is expressed not only and not so much in external qualities: color, composition - how much in the spirit, mood, condition of his creations. In Ismagil Khalilullov’s paintings, all its components work on the power of thought invested by the author.

Ismagil Mintagirovich Khalilullov devoted his life to art and creativity, he was devoted to his work. In his paintings there are always those pictorial qualities, that measure of high poetic generalization, which puts the works of this master at the highest level of fine art.
