A personal exhibition of the artist Olga Dorokhina will be held in Irkutsk in the V. Bronstein Gallery from December 14 to April 20. The author works in the genre of decorative painting and creates modern Siberian landscapes.
Olga Dorokhina graduated from the Irkutsk Art School and then studied with the renowned master Vitaly Smagin. As a child, her creative development was influenced by moving from the Urals to a small Siberian village. “Taiga, close contact with nature, observations, a scientific research approach and the desire to understand all processes played and continue to play a major role in my development as an artist,” says Olga.
All of Olga’s works are painted from life in the open air. Most often, she works with views of Olkhon Island on Baikal and the Eastern Sayan Mountains. She is actively involved in tourism, including wild solitary tourism, and studies the history and mythology of the region.
“My love for traveling and painting are connected with my research interest, which found expression in plein air painting,” says the artist. “I prefer bright shades and contrasts. This is how I express the purity, openness and sound of matter. I would call my style positive color-giving.”
You can learn more about the subjects of the works, as well as the mythology of the places depicted in the paintings, using a free audio guide.
