Masha Rudenko is a multidisciplinary artist whose work combines performance, video art, photography, collage, painting, body art, and mixed techniques. Masha was born in 1985 in Taganrog, at the age of 17 she won the Elite Model Look competition, after which she worked as a model in Moscow, Paris, Milan, London, Tokyo, Barcelona, ​​Hamburg, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, then moved to USA, where she realized her old dream by entering the New York School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture, and then continuing her studies at the classical painting school The Art League School.

She made her debut as an artist with the Mashpit project - a performance-reincarnation, which resulted in photographs that captured her in the images of Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dali, Quentin Tarantino, Woody Allen and other iconic personalities. The project was conceived and implemented, among other things, thanks to the skills Masha gained while working as a model: her ability to adapt, transform, try on a variety of images. In 2017, the project was shown at Allouche Gallery in New York, in 2019 - at Who I Am Gallery in Moscow.

Rudenko’s photographs were sold at the SCO Family Services (2017) and Indixia (2019) auctions. In 2019, the artist collaborated with architect Gaetano Pesce on the media project The Seven Deadly Sins.

In 2020, she carried out several projects for Destination AMA and The Home in Los Angeles, the purpose of which was to support the local homeless community and raise awareness of environmental issues and the need for recycling.

From March to May 2021, the video work Unseen, created by Rudenko in cooperation with the Moscow Public Art Fund, was shown at the Moscow City site.

The exhibition, which will be held from 13 to 26 July at the ASKERI GALLERY, will feature works by Masha Rudenko, made in a mixed technique of paper collage, in which Masha has been working for the past two years. She came up with this technique while traveling, using materials and body language at hand. The main theme of her new series was escapism (English escape - "escape") - the desire to get away from the routine, routine, boredom. The modern rhythm of life often leaves no time to look inside oneself. The pandemic became a forced pause for many, which gave a chance to stop, reboot and think about harmony and relationships with the world. Maria uses the body as a personal visual instrument, a language for depicting human emotions and states. Paper as the main material becomes a way for the artist to learn flexibility and minimalism in the creative process.

Mary’s paintings are an opportunity to reflect on what escapism and freedom mean for each of us, to think about what they are running from and to be grounded.
