January 16, 2020 at the Artefice Gallery opens a personal exhibition of Irina Ryvkina “Half-Forgotten”.
The work of Irina Ryvkina is a painting of a color field, multiplied by a sharp figurative plasticity, in which one sees not only a sealed state, but a stopped moment in all her nervous tension. The artist’s painting is emotional and internally expressive, despite the external calm, the apparent simplicity of the plot.
She manages to immerse the viewer in that particular symbolic field, where not external, but internal laws of the universe act. In her canvases an endless series of stories is guessed, referring the viewer to a number of recognizable traditions. Joining together, they give birth to a new surprisingly fragile and at the same time tragic world of our being.
Half-forgetting is a state in which the process of erasing the visible world, the world of knowledge, takes place in order to calm eyesight and return it to a purity of perception. This is the point between two worlds - the past and the future. This is the transition between sleep and reality.
In the works of Irina Ryvkina, a conflict between the world with knowledge and the artist with vision is clearly visible. Irina Ryvkina’s man was captured at the moment of this realization, when the movement, full of aspiration, had just ended, but the thought that there was nowhere to move had already taken over consciousness. And in this sense, her work is deeply theatrical and plot.
“I am interested in given spaces and people. I try to create my own laws of form and color in my work, perfecting my own language of the image of the body and surrounding reality ”
