This exhibition is a kind of autobiographical journey of the artist into the past or an archaeological study that reconstructs the main events and impressions of his creative life. The dinosaur - the cross-cutting hero of the project - symbolizes the author endlessly exploring the artistic heritage of different eras, codes and memes of various cultural formations.

“Having literally burst into the artistic space of perestroika Russia, Gosha Ostretsov immediately occupied a stable niche in it, having managed to preserve his own style and at the same time harmoniously fit into the polyphony of the Moscow art community,” says curator of the project Elena Kuprina-Lyakhovich.

Throughout his career, Gosha Ostretsov worked in the style of new wave, comics and academism, creating many works that, at this stage, literally become the basis for new art objects. Developing a method first tested in a large-scale project - an auction to help COSMOSCOW-2019, Ostretsov uses fragments of his old works and cuttings from the canvases of his colleagues, synthesizing new works from them.

“Recently I have been compiling kaleidoscopes from different works, that is, it’s like a recycling, alteration, rethinking of a stage already passed. And now I very often take my old works and remake them: I cut, combine, try, take a fresh look at this matter, ”the artist explains.

Thus, the exhibition "Dinosaurs of Art" is a double retrospective within one project, when the author consistently restores and rethinks all stages of his development, and then analyzes and develops old ideas at a fundamentally new, modern level.
