On September 12, at 15:00, the Russian Museum and the St. Petersburg concert invite residents and guests of the city to the Summer Garden! The St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sergei Stadler will open the new concert season with Tchaikovsky’s opera "Eugene Onegin".
The part of Tatyana will be performed by the star of the Mariinsky Theater Yekaterina Shimanovich. The leading soloists of the Petersburg concert will take part in the performance: Vladimir Kazakov, Leonty Salyensky, Polina Novikova, Yakov Strizhak, Leonid Repin, Tamara Marchenko. The director of the production is Irina Fokina.
The Summer Garden, which is part of the Russian Museum complex, is one of the most beloved places of St. Petersburg, a landmark for Tchaikovsky, Pushkin, and their heroes. Let us recall the lines from "Eugene Onegin": "So that the child would not be exhausted, he taught him everything in jest, did not bother him with strict morality, scolded him for pranks and took him for a walk to the Summer Garden." The magnificent ensemble of the garden and views of the city will become the natural scenery for the performance.
Eugene Onegin will continue the tradition of performances in St. Petersburg gardens: last year, Mozart’s The Wedding of Figaro was performed in the Tavrichesky Garden. The performance of Tchaikovsky’s opera will be a real gift for the Petersburg public after a long pause due to self-isolation.
The performance is timed to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Petersburg concert and the 125th anniversary of the founding of the State Russian Museum.
During the event, all safety rules will be observed in accordance with the requirements of Rospotrebnadzor.
