The multimedia project “Faces of the North” was created by order of the Studio for New Music ensemble in 2014 and was performed in Moscow only once. Especially for the project, composers Aleksey Nadzharov, Nikolai Popov, Alexander Khubeev and video artist Andrew Quinn (Australia / Italy) created compositions for the Studio’s musicians, interactive electronics and video, united by the idea of ​​the North. They are implemented with complex metamorphoses: the gestures of musicians are visualized in 3D waves, webcams and LED constructions are used to work with video. Sound becomes the basis for the visual component (image, color scheme and its intensity), controlled by a multimedia artist.

The project is framed by two compositions by Igor Kefalidi for piano and electronic sounds.
