Creativity of one of the leading contemporary sculptors, hereditary artist S.A. Shcherbakova large-scale and multifaceted. Salavat Shcherbakov was born in 1955 in Moscow and passed an excellent vocational school. In 1978 he graduated from the Moscow Art and Industry Academy. S.G. Stroganov, where his mentors were such outstanding masters as V.I. Derunov, A.N. Burganov, G.A. Schulz, B.K. Orlov, Yu.P. Pommer and others. Since the 1990s, Salavat Shcherbakov has been actively involved and won in a number of competitions in monumental art. Great talent, incredible hard work, extensive knowledge allowed the sculptor to confidently enter the artistic life of the country.
The sculptor’s professional luggage includes monuments and architectural and sculptural ensembles, decorative sculptural compositions, memorial monuments and boards. He has developed more than ten unique interiors of museum and public buildings. The best easel works are presented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Armory of the Moscow Kremlin, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the State Russian Museum, in many museums in Russia and foreign countries: in the London Gallery of Art and other museums. Private galleries in Sweden, France, Belgium, Holland, USA, Australia acquired a number of works.
S.A. Shcherbakov is the author of many sculptural compositions dedicated to key events in Russian history, monuments to Russian statesmen, scientists, astronauts, historical figures, figures of culture and art. The exhibition will feature portraits of the architect K.A. Tones (Moscow, Museum of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior), sculptor A.G. Sotnikova (Moscow, "Museum"), artist I.S. Glazunov (Moscow, private collection), Marshal A.M. Vasilevsky and statesman P.A. Stolypin, aircraft designers S.P. Koroleva and A.N. Tupolev, engineer V.G. Shukhov, geographer BB Rodoman, President of the Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin and others.
Spectators will have a unique opportunity to follow the process of work on the work and the embodiment of the author’s idea on the example of the monument “In the fight against fascism we were together” on Poklonnaya Hill (Moscow) and the Red Army Victory Memorial over fascism in Israel (Netanya), models which will be presented at the exhibition.
S.A. Shcherbakov creates works that are included in the history and cultural appearance of many Russian cities and regions - from Khabarovsk to Kaliningrad, from Murmansk to Crimea. Most of the monumental works of the master are installed in his hometown - Moscow. The exposition will include sketches and fragments of one of the main monumental buildings of the capital - the Monument to Prince Vladimir on Borovitskaya Square, sculptures of Alexander I and Patriarch Germogen (Moscow, Alexander Garden), images of saints created for the Cathedral of Christ the Savior "On the 100th anniversary of the restoration of the patriarchate in Russia ". For the first time, a relief will be presented for the facade of the Main Church of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, being erected in the Patriot Park.
The exposition is built on a thematic principle and reveals key plots, motives and images that Salavat Shcherbakov has been developing since the early 1990s. In addition to the retrospective nature, the exhibition “Fatherland. History. Geography ”explores the conditions for the presence of sculpture in urban space. Art photographs complementing sculptural works create the effect of immersion in the architectural and spatial environment of the city and allow you to see the monuments familiar to all Muscovites from a different angle. The exposition will be supplemented with video chronicles representing the technological process of working on famous sculptures, the stages of installation of monuments and the opening ceremony.
