“From soldier to marshal” is the path to victory, which might not have happened if one of this links was removed. The victory was forged by simple boys, but it would have been impossible without the wise commander-strategist, who was Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov. This year marks the 127th anniversary of the birth of our great fellow countryman, a native of Kaluga, who glorified his native land and played a huge role in the outcome of the Great Patriotic War. It is not for nothing that he received the unofficial title of “Marshal of Victory” and “People’s Hero”.
The exhibition will feature drawings from the museum’s collections on the topic of military history, which were received by the museum after various children’s drawing competitions. Each of them is still relevant and capable of touching the viewer’s soul.

Some of the authors participating in the competitions have already grown up and continue to achieve creative victories. For example, Ilya Borisenok is a repeated winner of the Audience Award in the exhibition-competition named after. Afanasia Kulikova. Since childhood, this author has been close to the theme of nature, glorification of his native land, and patriotic orientation. At the exhibition “From Soldier to Marshal” his drawing “Stalingrad. Autumn 1942." Now the artist is better known as a painter, but we see that in his very young years he was able to convey the perspective of a place using graphic techniques, coped with a multi-figure composition, and depicted many details - military equipment, weapons, and human figures.
Anastasia Petrushina, at age 13, dedicated her work “Great Battles” to the Battle of Kursk. The young artist depicted the tension of the moment, the coloring was subtly chosen. The viewer feels the warriors’ focus on victory, their determination and courage, the desire to win, even at the cost of their own lives. The soldier’s step, the movement of the grass, the clouds have a single rhythm.
Ekaterina Samburova (12 years old) presented a portrait of a war hero. That’s what her drawing is called. This is a generalized image of a liberator with a courageous face and a serious look.
Vlad Romanov (10 years old) in his work “In Berlin” made an attempt to depict the city after the bombing, we see the walls of destroyed buildings, the boy was especially successful in depicting a Soviet tank with a flag - a symbol of victory, that our soldiers reached Victory.
On a small album sheet of A4 format, Artem Efimov (11 years old) managed to show a whole fragment of the battle in 3D format - we see a plane flying in the sky, and a tank with a military vehicle, which are moving in the same direction. Plumes of smoke, the outskirts of summer - everything is conveyed quite reliably.
Alexander Ivantsov (10 years old) also depicted the theme of the battle, but what primarily attracts us is not the tank going on the offensive, but the figure of a very young soldier who is striding towards victory. Thousands of the same boys during the Great Patriotic War bravely went against the enemy and won.
Ekaterina Larina (11 years old) also took the theme “Great Battles”. Her “Battle of Stalingrad” was painted with broad strokes; the young artist depicted flames, snowdrifts, and clouds. Planes are like black birds adding to the feeling of anxiety. We see the height of the battle, a burning building, the drama of the event is conveyed.
“Combat training” Valeria Rybin (13 years old) surprises the trowels with the selected colors and work with color. This is a full-fledged small picture, where we see the image of both a simple soldier and his senior comrade.
"May. Lilac Branch” by Nikita Borisov (14 years old) represents the portrait genre. Without resorting to color, with a simple pencil Nikita created the image of a soldier - a young girl who not only waited for victory, but also brought it closer. There is sadness in her image. The girls sat down on the windowsill, holding a branch of lilac in their hands. Perhaps she remembers her fallen battle buddies and friends, thinks about the cost of victory, or maybe the war took away her home and loved ones. But she does not lose heart; it was these girls who were destined to raise the country from ruins. In the background we see the windows of another building, branches of plants - as a symbol of new life.
It is very important to remember the events of those terrible years, the names of the heroes, especially such outstanding ones as Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov, to know at what cost the victory was achieved, and to maintain the memory of generations. Such exhibitions are a connecting thread between eras, a sign of hope that we will never become “Ivans who do not remember their kinship.”
