Curator: Vitaly Mishin, Leading Researcher, Art Department of Europe and America of the 19th – 20th Centuries.
The exhibition, which includes about 170 sheets, covers five centuries of the history of European drawing - from the end of the XV to the middle of the XX century. From the museum’s rich collection of 27,000 drawings, the best examples of different national schools — Italian, French, German, Dutch, Flemish and Russian — were selected. Viewers will see rarely exhibited drawings by many prominent artists who give an idea of the variety of graphic techniques, of different drawing styles, and how the aesthetics of the drawing has changed over the centuries.
