The imperious intriguer Murzavetskaya dreams of joining a magnificent neighbor’s estate to her estate, having completed, as we would say now, a “raider seizure”. The naive and wealthy widow of Kupavin, the mistress of the estate, is essentially a mirror of the modern wives of oligarchs. Murzavetskaya’s “secret weapon” in this fight is her niece, Glafira: a poor but very cunning girl. Glafira, however, does not give a damn about her aunt’s instructions, suits only her fate, seeking to marry the rich landowner Lynyaev, the prototype of today’s oligarchs. Together with her, in this “dirty deed”, Murzavetskaya succeeds in involving the manager Kupavina, Chugunov, an unclean official. But very soon, Murzavetskaya’s plan begins to crumble….
The story of forged bills, fake letters and provincial intrigues will be resolved thanks to the intervention of the clever, ruined landowner Berkutov. He exposes all the tricks of Murzavetskaya, and in gratitude he receives the favor of the beautiful widow Kupavina. And, of course, her money…
The play uses a video sequence, which makes it more spectacular and exciting!
