Within the framework of the "Original Copy" exhibition, visitors will be presented with several dozen original photographs of the great masters of the 20th century. The list of authors seems to be borrowed from the photographic encyclopedia: Salgado, Koudelka, Klein, Drtikol, Evans, Farer, Friedlander, Erwitt. A distinctive feature of the project was the extra-large (up to 120x180 cm) size of prints, which in the 80s marked the beginning of the perception of photography as an art object by European museums. Thanks to the introduction of a new large-scale factor, the “copies” ceased to be identical to the “originals”, turning into independent works that largely transformed the original author’s intention. Over-magnification made it possible to reveal new, poorly readable in the "originals" rhythms of forms and lines. As a result, the abstract ornament of the chaotic combination of letters on the signs was emphasized, the texture of brick, rust, tree leaves played, intricate superimpositions of forms of translucent reflections appeared. “The essence of the idea wasto create a dialogue between a small nondescript original and a large, spectacular copy, ”says art director Mark Kobert.
Previously, this project was presented in full at the Moscow Photographic Salon. Within the framework of the current exposition, visitors will be able to refresh their memories and see the most interesting works of the exhibition.
