The premiere of Dasha Namdakov’s new avant-garde sculpture “He and She” will take place in Irkutsk at the V. Bronstein Gallery. The work was created in 2023 in Italy, in the city of Pietrasanta, and has never been exhibited anywhere before.
The theme of harmony between the masculine and feminine principles runs through all of Dasha Namdakov’s art. By creating a duet, the artist emphasizes the differences and similarities of inextricably linked creatures. The style of the composition is avant-garde; there are no detailed details in the figures - only abstract silhouettes. However, in the images one can discern the features of horses - animals sacred to nomads.
“Dasha Namdakov’s exhibition in the gallery is the only permanent exhibition in the world with his works, and it is regularly updated with new exhibits,” says gallery director Olga Bronstein. “It is especially valuable to me that our space will be the first place where you can see this sculpture.
In the format of the gallery’s permanent exhibition, you can trace how Dasha Namdakov’s style changed over the years using the example of his earliest and newest works.
In addition, the diptych “He and She” became part of the excursion program of the permanent exhibition. Every Wednesday at 18:30 there are excursions around the exhibition at an entrance ticket price of 100 to 300 rubles. The next excursion will take place on February 7.
The sculpture will be on display in the gallery until the summer of 2024.
