On January 3, the museum will host an open day: the permanent exhibition and temporary exhibitions can be visited free of charge. On the last two days of winter holidays, the fifth Motsas will take place, as well as the finish of the Snow on the Grass exhibition with excursions, quests and workshops for the whole family.

On interactive excursions, children will get acquainted with various animated films by Yuri Norshtein (Tale of Fairy Tales, Heron and Crane, Fox and Hare, Hedgehog in the Fog, Winter Days), play quests at the Snow on Grass exhibition ”, And in creative classes they will create their own cartoon characters, draw a comic strip and compose renga - a traditional Japanese poem.

The Winter club is a place for those who want to learn more about museums of the present and the future, who are interested in ethics, philanthropy and ecology along with blogging, street art, music, science and design thinking. Teenagers will organize a discussion club, where they will meet with guests - leading experts in their fields, discuss how and how a modern museum lives, where its exhibits come from, and how to make the museum space as comfortable as possible for visitors. In creative classes, the guys will develop their own research project and create exhibits for their museum.

Poetry, imagery, metaphors permeate all Yuri Norstein’s films, and literature is an integral part of his artistic world. At the meeting, the animator will talk about his strongest book experiences and read excerpts from his favorite works. After the reading, an autograph session will take place.
Discussion "Music of animation: Russian clips and musical cartoons of the XXI century"

Music is an important element of an animated film. Rhyming with scenery and space, it connects the action in the frame - character, speech, movement - and makes the viewer experience a variety of feelings. In Russian animation of recent decades, music has often become the basis of the entire film. So, animation videos and musical cartoons appeared, in which the melody dictates the visual series, and not vice versa. At the meeting, the guests will watch modern animated films and discuss why the accents have shifted, what the new animation offers the viewer and how to understand it.

EXCURSIONS
As part of the museum’s excursion program, visitors will get acquainted with the history of the Jewish people, its culture and religious tradition. The interactive format will allow guests to plunge into the world of the Jewish town and find out what languages Jews speak and write, how the main text of the most ancient monotheistic religion works, how Jews ended up in Russia and how their fate developed over the centuries.
The exhibition-labyrinth "Snow on the Grass", timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Yuri Norstein, will tell about the biography and work of the master of animation and his wife Francesca Yarbusova. On thematic and sightseeing tours, visitors will look into the artist’s studio and see how the work on the film is progressing - from the first sketches and storyboards to the birth of the character, learn about the influence of icon painting and the Russian avant-garde on Yuri Norstein’s work, and also look for hidden references to painting of the XVII-XIX centuries in the master’s works "Hedgehog in the Fog" and "Overcoat".
MOTSASH

In Israel, the word "motsash" refers to what happens after the end of the Shabbat. This is the time at the end of Saturday, when it is again allowed to do everyday things: the streets of cities come to life, shops, restaurants and cultural centers open, residents rush to spend the evening of the weekend at concerts, parties and in cinemas. On Saturday 8 January, Motsas will be staged for the fifth time. Guests will enjoy thematic and sightseeing tours of the main exposition and exhibitions, a special parallel program for children and their parents, as well as live music by Fedya Balashov, a DJ and musician, author of an audio guide for the Snow on the Grass exhibition.
FINISAGE OF THE EXHIBITION "SNOW ON GRASS"

On a tour of the Snow on the Grass exhibition, guests will learn about Yuri Norstein’s childhood and what was subsequently reflected in his works, and young visitors to the museum will take part in a game quest and act as detectives, using a map to explore the exposition and reveal the secrets of the exhibits. In addition, on the excursion “100 Questions about Childhood” at the exhibition “How to Become a Jew? Everyday life and traditions of Jewish childhood ”, the guests of the museum will discuss how a child’s personality is formed from a multitude of traditions and culture and how the modern perception of childhood differs from the experience of past centuries.

Especially for the January holidays, the Museum Shop has prepared the game "Hat Prediction" - a mini-quest, after completing which guests will receive literary predictions for the whole year and a discount in the store. Lavka also launches a bookcrossing program.
