Prizes in the field of fine arts named after Afanasy Kulikov are awarded to professional and amateur artists, masters of decorative and applied art of the Kaluga region for the most talented, specific work of fine or decorative and applied art in the following categories: painting, drawing, sculpture, decorative and applied art.
Works that have been completed no more than 3 years before the deadline for filing applications by the authors may be nominated for the award.
The authors of each work should not exceed 3 people.
The number of submitted works - no more than 3.
This year more than 150 works from more than 50 authors are presented. The scale of the competition clearly demonstrates its relevance in the modern artistic life of the Kaluga region, and also reveals the natural and cultural identity of the region, recalling the need for its comprehensive support and preservation.
The solemn ceremony of summing up the results of the exhibition-competition will be held on December 19, 2019 at 16:00.
Information about the competition. In 1993, in order to preserve and develop the creative process in the Kaluga region, the community of employees of the Kaluga Art Museum and artists - members of the Kaluga branch of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation put forward the idea of creating an exhibition project-competition of regional scale, which would cover a variety of creative searches of artists from different areas Kaluga region.
The idea immediately found support in the Regional Department of Culture, which helped put the project into practice in January 1994. It was then that the Regional Final Exhibition-Competition named after Athanasius Kulikov for prizes in the field of fine art was held for the first time at the Obraz Art Gallery.
The main goals that the contest organizers adhered to were: motivating contemporary participants in the regional art process to create iconic works of art of a high level and developing and preserving the artistic features of the Kaluga Territory, including through the purchase of works by award winners in gallery funds.
Today, following the results of the Regional Final Exhibition-Competition named after Afanasy Kulikov, ten prizes in the field of fine art are awarded for the most talented, specific work of fine or decorative art distinguished by novelty and originality in the following categories: painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative and applied art, created over the past three years. This allows not only creatively stimulating artists and masters of the Kaluga region, but also supporting them financially.
Since 2014, the Regional Final Exhibition-Competition named after Afanasy Kulikov continues to live within the walls of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts, which every year at the end of autumn and the beginning of winter opens its doors for everyone to participate in the exhibition and evaluate the presented works as a spectator.
The exhibition runs until December 22, 2019.
