The pre-Mongol period is called the "golden age" of Russian art. And now, in many ways, the only way to study Russian culture before the Tatar-Mongol invasion is to study archaeological works of the period 10-13 centuries. A detailed study of objects and methods of their production reveals important new elements and technologies that may be applicable in the development of modern design.

Within the framework of the “Modernity and Traditions” project, the following events are held: the research conference “Ancient Russian art in contemporary design”, an exhibition and a round table where designers can plunge into the past, learn about the life and culture of their ancestors, study medieval craft traditions, blacksmith and jewelry technologies production, manufacture of glass, ceramics and much more.
