On September 20, in the space of the Neglinnaya Gallery Shopping Center, a photo exhibition of the finalists of the documentary photography contest Neglinnaya I Love You will open. This year’s exposition brought together 70 works and all of them are about love for one Neglinnaya street, without which it is impossible to imagine either old or modern Moscow.
The competition, which started this spring, was attended by 150 photographers, who presented about a thousand works. On each of them is Neglinnaya Street, its surroundings: mansions with columns, stucco moldings and wide windows, its squat two-story houses with signs of shops on the ground floor and chic modern buildings, its secret corners, the beauty of which you can hardly see in everyday rush.
To try to solve the riddle of the timeless charm of Neglinnaya, to be surprised at new discoveries, to feel how street mood changes in spring and summer, morning and evening, visitors to the Neglinnaya, I Love You exhibition will be able to. The organizers are sure that even those who have walked along the street countless times will have surprises: will they recognize the familiar Neglinnaya?
The photo contest and exhibition were organized by the Neglinnaya Gallery together with the British Higher School of Design and the A. Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia for the second year. Traditionally, it was attended by recognized masters of photography, as well as residents and guests of the capital.
“The look at Neglinnaya street is very different in all the works, we are interested to see what exactly interested the photography enthusiasts on the old Moscow street. These are people, situations, and architectural elements that we most often do not notice when walking around the city, and the architecture of the dungeon is the man-made bed of the Neglinnaya River. An exhibition in the Neglinnaya Gallery space is an important element of the public presentation of works that have just been files in an endless network stream of a private blog’s feed, ”said project curator, teacher of the A. Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia, Igor Mukhin, a famous photographer
Within three months from the start of the photo contest, its participants were invited not only to submit their work done independently, but also to take part in photo walks along the iconic places of Neglinnaya Street. Those who wish could hold photo sessions in Sanduny and the Central Market, make unique shots from the roof of the Neglinnaya Gallery building.
On the opening day of September 20, the winners of the photo contest will be awarded in the following categories: “ARCHITECTURE”, “PEOPLE”, “EVENTS”, the prizes of which will be courses at the British Higher School of Design, courses at the A. Rodchenko Moscow School of Multimedia Photography and valuable prizes from the Neglinnaya Gallery. A separate award awaits the author of the most popular photo published on social networks.
The public exposition “Neglinnaya, I love you” in the gallery will last until October 11.
