Artist Olesya Novikova presents a series of paintings and art objects "Fables", in which she explores childhood as a period of formation of family codes. Through traditions and holidays, gifts and letters, family codes are "registered" in a person’s consciousness, forming an internal resource of emotional stability and a desire to pass it on by inheritance. Family archives often become a source of inspiration for Olesya, and some objects, such as dishes, are used as an independent medium. Thus, transmitting the codes of her family beyond their functions, the artist creates art objects that find a response and a new interpretation in viewers.   

"Fables" is a multiverse of natural and fairy-tale format. Having endowed its characters: birds, animals, and even plants, with magical properties, the author reveals their power, contained in the balance of meaning and visual execution. Each of the characters is responsible for a specific emotion. Each is self-sufficient and, at the same time, strengthens the other, forming new meanings and associations.

The "Fables" paintings are created using a metaphysical method. Beginning work with spontaneous lines, color spots or a random reference, the artist allows intuition to build a further plot, thereby receiving unexpected answers to exciting questions.

Mosaic fables repeat and sometimes interpret the plots of paintings in a new sound, revealing the character of the image depending on the choice of material and technique of execution. The technique of "trencadís" emphasizes the message to the viewer: to create a whole from fragments, to seek harmony, to learn to coexist without losing individuality.

Mentally returning to the period of my childhood, I draw on a resource of warmth, carelessness, safety and love. This is the driving force, constant motivation to move on and create. I would like people who came to the exhibition, through their own associations, to connect to their resource of warmth and support and broadcast it around themselves,” Olesya Novikova shares.
