On November 23 at 16.00 in the Gallery of Siberian Art (Karl Marx St., 23) the opening of the exhibition “Tengariin Ynge” (“Heavenly Color”) by Ekaterina Asalkhanova will take place. The exhibition includes works of painting, graphics and decorative and applied art, touching on themes of traditional Buryat culture.
The works of Ekaterina Asalkhanova reveal to the viewer the themes of the relationship between man and nature, myths and legends that create their own special spiritual and material world. The theme of Buryat religious culture runs through all of the artist’s work. In her works, she refers to images of ongons (cult images of the spirits of ancestors), as well as to the traditions of Buryat Buddhist painting “Buryad Zurag”.
Turning to traditional culture, Ekaterina Asalkhanova uses philosophical and moral ideas contained in national symbols, rethinks the worldview universals of the Buryat ethnic group and forms her own ideas about the world and society.
Ekaterina Asalkhanova is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, candidate of art history, teacher at the Ust-Orda Children’s Art School, chief artist at the Ust-Orda National Center for Artistic Folk Crafts.
