The annual August festival "South Ossetia" in Gallery A3 continues to acquaint the capital’s audience with the culture of our small beautiful land. This time an interesting and original layer of Ossetian art will be presented to your attention: naive and primitivism.
The work of folk stone-cutting masters, who worked in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, had a great influence on Ossetian artists. Many painters, sculptors, and craftsmen in Ossetia use naive elements. Part of our exposition is professional artists who used plastic finds of folk artists in their work: Olga Maltyzova, Hsar Gassiev, Vadim Bezhanov, Sergey Gassiev, Dmitry Tomaev and others.
And the "highlight" of the exhibition are real naive artists. If Soslanbek Yedziev, the patriarch of Ossetian naive art, is known in Russia, such names as Siko Karkusov, Khadzhiumar Sabanov and Boris Dzhigkaev will be presented for the first time in Moscow.
An important goal of the exhibition is to draw attention to the creative heritage of the national sculptor Siko Karkusov, which is on the verge of extinction.
You will find a kind, beautiful, sincere exhibition. As well as the surprise and impression of meeting new names.
The exhibition will be held from July 21 to August 14, 2016
