The Moscow Museum of Modern Art and the SAMPLE online gallery present Nadezhda Likhogrud’s personal exhibition Memory Full, the fourth of six joint projects between the museum and the gallery. The project is dedicated to thinking about the properties of memory and its heterogeneity in conditions of fast information flows.
The artist combines academic and craft skills with modern artistic practices in her works. At the Memory Filled exhibition, the classical form is also synthesized with memories of post-Soviet childhood and the modern realities of social networks. So, the Saved series at the same time resembles a gallery of saved photos in the phone and Soviet tiles. The Highlights series uses the circle format, popular in all applications, but it is also a reference to the round bas-reliefs of the Moscow metro. In this project, Nadezhda Likhogrud deliberately refuses color - the Cloud series becomes the quintessence of this aesthetic solution and a metaphor for memory. The white voluminous podium fills the space of the large hall, just as memories fill the memory.
All works were made for the exhibition and are exhibited for the first time in two halls of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art on Petrovka.
